Tbilisi is one of the former Soviet Union's most pleasant cities, and strolling the long boulevards is a lovely way to discover it.

5,000 metre Mount Kazbek towers over the town of Kazbegi near the border with North Ossetia in the Russian Federation. At 2,200 metres a church is visible at centre left. Fiercely superstitious, the local residents objected so strongly to a cable car to the church erected by an outside group that is was dismantled.

High in the Caucasus Mountains I found these strange stones. I never found out what they were.
